Shannon credits family for inspiring her love of dance. Her first teachers were her great aunt who taught ballet, tap and jazz, her grandparents, original era shag dancers jitterbugged throughout their years together, and her mother enjoyed American Bandstand and social dances, they all taught Shannon to dance from childhood on.
Bill took his first lessons in the neo-swing era and has since diversified his repertoire to span over 65 years of dance, offering speed and athleticism to the dance to keep them fresh and using his strong communication skills to help people of all ages learn to dance.
Dedicated to preserving 20th century American vernacular dances, Shannon and Bill Butler routinely teach, dance and perform social and jazz dances from the 1900s – 1960s. They teach and dj at 2 long running weekly swing dances and host our monthly dance, Miss Shannon’s Saturday Sock hop.
